Carbon Coated Minerals, engineered for the rumen
A solid, granular supplement — not a liquid — made by blending specific minerals into New Zealand pine before it's cooked at high temperature with almost no oxygen, then quenched with a pH-balancing fluid. Fed at around 1% of daily intake, mixed straight into feed.
Four things happen inside every particle
The rumen loses roughly 2–12% of a cow's feed energy to methane — a dead-end byproduct that helps no one. Carbon-Kai's particles work through four mechanisms at once to change that.
Electron storage & transfer
Carbon-Kai's conductive surfaces act like a wire and a temporary battery — giving electrons somewhere else to go instead of ending up locked into methane.
Alternative sinks for hydrogen & electrons
Making methane is normally the rumen's main way of disposing of spare hydrogen. Carbon-Kai's mineral components offer other destinations — ideally into fatty acids the cow can actually use.
Shifting the microbial community
Porous, conductive surfaces are a good home for beneficial microbes to colonise, shifting the population away from methane-producing archaea and toward more productive species.
Chemical concentration modulation
A large surface area soaks up excess hydrogen and toxins, smoothing out the highs and lows so the rumen runs on steadier, more efficient conditions.
One handful, five places it works
The rumen is only step one. The same material keeps working as it passes through the animal and into the ground.
Manufacturing
Radiata pine biomass is converted into stable Carbon Coated Minerals, locking in carbon that would otherwise return to the atmosphere as CO₂.
Fed to cows
Mixed into daily feed at ~1% of intake, modulating rumen fermentation and cutting enteric methane.
Gut transit
Adsorbs toxins, heavy metals, mycotoxins and parasites as it passes through the digestive system.
Manure storage
Reduces ammonia and nitrous oxide losses during storage and when manure is spread on pasture.
Pasture soil
Sequesters carbon for the long term, and improves soil fertility, structure and water retention.
Drops straight into how you already feed
Carbon-Kai is a solid, granular product — it is not a liquid. It's delivered in bulk bags to the farm or to a feed supplier and premixed into shed meal, at around 1% of daily dry matter intake. No new equipment, no change to milking routine.
In the activated-charcoal family — and it stays there
Because Carbon-Kai sits in the activated-charcoal family, it isn't absorbed from the gut — it doesn't transfer into an animal's blood, meat or milk. Alongside that, it's been associated with suppression of harmful bacteria, reduced internal parasite burden, and improved pregnancy rates and weight gain.
